Climedo Publishes Whitepaper on the Impact of COVID-19 on the MedTech Industry

Munich – Tuesday, April 28, 2020. Munich-based software start-up Climedo Health has published a Whitepaper named “Impact of COVID-19 on the MedTech Industry“. The paper analyses four major areas that are being significantly affected by the outbreak.
Almost no industry has been left untouched by the Coronavirus outbreak. This clearly includes the MedTech sector, which manufactures many of the vital devices and products in the fight against the virus. Combined with disruptions in global supply chains, the high demand for certain products (personal protective equipment and ventilators), COVID-19 has led to massive shortages in certain areas. This is what the first part of the 12-page report by Climedo Health addresses. The second part analyzes other MedTech sectors which are experiencing a temporary decline in demand due to the pandemic, such as instruments used in elective procedures. Such procedures are currently often postponed for capacity reasons. The report then looks at some innovative diagnostic and treatment examples that could serve as inspiration for companies. Finally, the consequences for the EU Medical Device Regulation (EU-MDR) are considered, which was postponed due to COVID-19, among other things.
